It's very hard to believe that our baby girl turns 2 today. I had to go downtown for a meeting today and thought I'd be gone before the girls woke up, but as I'm ready to go out the door at 6:30 I hear Clara talking from the top of the stairs so of course I had to go up quickly before I darted out.
She was all smiles (of course!) at the top of the stairs in her mermaid jammies with that crazy curly bed head hair and saggy diaper holding her blankie. I asked her 'Who's birthday is it today?" And through her paci she excitedly replied 'Mine!" Then, being her typical silly self, she lifted up her shirt so I kissed her tummy.
I picked up some mini cupcakes downtown before heading home for all of her little daycare friends when I pick her up from Jackie's. I'm sure all of the other parents loved me for giving their kids a sugar high at 4pm! LOL. The kids had fun and LOVED their little cupcakes.
We ordered pizza for dinner and then divided and conquered to get ready for the girls' joint party tomorrow. Ron and Sophia went to Costco and Home Depot while Clara and I went to the party store and to Target. She was singing "Happy Birthday" the ENTIRE TIME we were at Target. And mind you, she doesn't know the whole song, she just says the two words happy birthday to her own tune. And sometimes she would add "Mommy" to the end. I had to remind her that Mommy's birthday was Monday and that it was HER birthday today. You would have thought it was 9am, not 9pm when we were at Target! Clara was such a good, happy girl and what a trooper, staying out with me till 9:30!
We had the rest of the mini cupcakes when we got home and had a little family celebration before we went to bed (well, before everyone else went to bed, that is! I stayed up to get things ready for tomorrow).
