Tri Tri Again!

Today was my 3rd sprint triathlon - 1/2 mile swim, 14.2 mile bike and 3.1 mile (5k) run.  We knew it was going to be a pretty HOT day, so the butterflies were flying around in my tummy quite a bit.  That, and because I guess I had a bit of pressure on myself to be last year's time of 1:39:00.

My cousin Claire joined in the fun again this year, and my sister, Leah joined us for her debut race.  We had a great support system of our own families and our parents there to cheer us on every step of the way.

Special thanks to my wonderful hubby for taking some pics while I was obviously indisposed.  But mostly for pushing and encouraging me to train, despite what else was going on.  It paid off!  I bet last year's time by over 5 1/2 minutes, finishing in 1:33:28.  My first year (2009) was my best swim time, but I got a PB in both the bike and run this year.  So given how hot it was (and that I only got in the pool twice before the race), I was pretty happy with my time.

Muscle Milk was a giveaway at the expo - thought it was pretty funny that Leo wanted to hold the bottle.  Who needs muscle milk?  That little guy got pretty big on regular milk!  LOL
Packet pickup day!  Sophia and Grace got marked just like their Mommies (so that their Daddy's and Grammy & Poppy didn't forget what their numbers were ;-)

This is one of many pictures that Sophia took on her own.  Boy, she is very observant!  From crouching down to get a head on perspective of her subjects, to making sure everything is in correct placement.  No joke, she came over to me for one of the pics and lifted my arms up to put them on my legs - she needed to see my numbers!  Then for another she was putting chapstick on Claire!  Too funny!  Claire thought it was hilarious!
Me, my miniMe and my cousin :-)

Me, Leah and Claire all ready to go - Leah is first up in the water!  Go sista!!!!!

Feeling pretty good after the swim...onto the bike!

It was getting pretty hot, so hydrating was key on the bike to survive the run.

Yahoo!!!!!

Me and my big sister - so proud of you for finishing your first tri, Leah!

We rocked the SheRox!

It's so great to have Ron and the kids waiting at the finish :-)

All done and still feel pretty bad ass.  Yes, I said bad ass on the family blog ;-)

Sophia is pulling her 'I'm not going to look at the camera' attitude and Clara is eating my medal - LOL

My next feat is to tackle an olympic tri at the end of the summer.  We'll see how that goes!  Training will be a bit difficult to mange since it'll take much more to tackle the 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike and 10k run.  I need to keep the same mentality I did for my first sprint triathlon, and that is that I just want to finish.  Time doesn't matter - just finish and give yourself something to improve upon for the next one ;-)
